An intimate exploration of tea, ceramics, and art.
Join SARAHCROWN x The Earthen Room for an intimate tea tasting experience featuring the distinctive wood-fired ceramics of South Korean artist Kimo An of Tousanyo, set within Under the Same Sky, an exhibition featuring the works of Heekyoung Jeon and Hiva Alizadeh.
This serene, 90-minute gathering offers a rare opportunity to slow down and savor a thoughtfully curated selection of specially sourced East Asian teas in the contemplative atmosphere of an art gallery.
Based in Gimhae, South Korea, Kimo An creates wood-fired ceramics that celebrate the natural beauty of clay, fire, and the unpredictable transformations of the kiln. Each vessel bears its own distinctive character, with organic textures, subtle variations in color, and surfaces shaped by the interaction of flame and ash. His work reflects a deep appreciation for traditional ceramic craftsmanship and the quiet beauty of imperfection.
The tasting will feature 1990s vintage Liu Bao tea from China, green tea from South Korea, and soba buckwheat tea from Japan, each offering its own distinctive flavors, aromas, and cultural heritage.
Served in Kimo An’s handcrafted tea vessels, the experience invites guests to explore the subtle relationship between tea and ceramics, where the warmth of a cup, the texture of its surface, and the character of each tea become part of a shared sensory experience.
Set against the contemplative backdrop of Under the Same Sky, which explores themes of nature, memory, and material, guests are invited to appreciate the interplay of art, craftsmanship, and tea while enjoying moments of quiet reflection and meaningful conversation. A selection of delicate desserts will accompany the tasting.
Each guest will receive a handcrafted tea cup by Kimo An (valued at $60) to take home, with an opportunity to acquire additional ceramic pieces through The Earthen Room.
Limited to 16 guests per session to preserve an intimate and serene atmosphere. A minimum of 8 confirmed participants is required for the event to take place. For more info or special requirements, contact info@sarahcrown.com.
