We are excited to announce to you our participation in a conversation on curating that gathers curators and art writers from renowned art institutions in New York. SARAHCROWN founder Sarah Corona will moderate the panel featuring William Corwin, Jonathan Goodman, Charlotta Kotik, and Wade Bonds on May 25, 2022 between 6:30 – 8 PM. The event is open to the public and is hosted by Lichtundfire located in Lower East Side, New York.
The panel will be presented by Lichtundfire director Priska Juschka, and the speakers will offer presentations on their recent curatorial work, followed by a conversation moderated by Corona. Discussions will include topics such as the meaning of a curator’s process and role, their motivation and approach in bringing works of art together, the financial and organizational principles of curating, and how curators impact the art world.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Wade Bonds is a curator and gallery director from Buffalo, NY. He is the director at Rafael Gallery, New York City and has over 20 years experience working with NYC art dealers, including Martin Gordon and Peter Marcelle. He curated exhibitions such as Sasha Meret: Select Works and Fusion: The Openness Of Abstraction In Thought And Practice at The Gallery LTD, Brooklyn.
William Corwin is a sculptor, curator, and journalist from New York. He has exhibited at The Clocktower, LaMama and Geary galleries in New York, as well as galleries in London, Hamburg, Beijing and Taipei. He has written regularly for The Brooklyn Rail, Artpapers, Bomb, Artcritical, Raintaxi and Canvas. Most recently he curated and wrote the catalog for Postwar Women at The Art Students League in New York; and 9th Street Club, and exhibition of Perle Fine, Helen Frankenthaler, Mercedes Matter, Grace Hartigan, Lee Krasner and Elaine Dekooning at Gazelli Art House in Mayfair.
Jonathan Goodman is a writer, art critic, poet, and teacher based in New York. His focusis in Asian contemporary art and sculpture and he has been writing about it for over twenty years. Goodman is currently teaching at Pratt Institute.
Charlotta Kotik organized over 100 museum exhibitions, presenting work by artists such as Kerry James Marshall, John Cage, and Louise Bourgeois. She worked at the Brooklyn Museum from 1984, and between 1992–2007 served as Curator and Chair of the Contemporary Art Department. She established The Grand Lobby Projects to provide opportunities for installation-based work by artists including Martin Puryear and Joseph Kosuth. Presently, Kotik works as a writer, lecturer and independent curator and facilitates various projects for galleries, alternative spaces, and museums.

Lichtundfire is an open ended art, culture, and political site, with an emphasis on art. The space focuses on contemporary art, helps with artist management, and promotes artists and individual works in their inventory, emerging and established alike.
