About the Artists

Bu Shi (b. 1993, China) Lives and works in Ravenna, Italy.

Bu Shi often works on small-scale canvases. His muted and aged palette conjures up antique jewelry—delicately exquisite while bearing traces of use. Seal engraving and calligraphy that blossomed in his formative years have played a foundational role in his art. Living in Italy, he taps into primordial memories, using occult objects as keys to connect with people of old. To Bu Shi, only in the face of occultism can we dissociate or illuminate our cultural identities that are beyond our choosing. Shaping indescribable objects or sketching the extremely unnatural play of light, he seeks to present us with a sense of dissonance. If it prevails, we will discern a fleeting glimpse of occultism amid the scattered dissonance, much like awakening at twilight from a prolonged midday nap.

Michael Fried (b. 1998, New York, NY) Lives and works in New York, NY.

Michael Fried is a recent graduate from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and continues to live and work in NY. Drawing from the traditions of Renaissance still life, Spanish bodegón painting, Morandi, Philip Guston, Nicolas Party, and even Looney Tunes, Fried stages everyday objects within carefully constructed compositions. His works balance structure and instability, revealing the persistent human desire to create meaning, harmony, and control within an inherently uncertain world.

Stefano Caimi (b. 1991, Italy) Lives and works in Milan, IT.

Stefano Caimi obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Polytechnic of Milan in 2014, followed by a Master’s degree in Sustainable Architecture from the Polytechnic of Turin in 2016.

Elisa Bertaglia (b. 1983, Italy). Lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.

Bertaglia addresses philosophical themes through an oneiric and eclectic language. She investigates the concept of symbol in contemporaneity exploring the worlds of nature, duality and memory, from both an intimate and shared perspective. Bertaglia’s new works on precious metals further her focus on the themes of threshold and metamorphosis: the metals, gold, rose gold and copper, reflect the same concept contained within the works in the very nature of the material. The precious metals emerge in their own luster, contrasting the opaque, murky coats of paint. They become not only the background of the painting, but a decisive part of the image with their reflective, iridescent surface.

Heekyoung Jeon (b. 1981, South Korea) Lives and works in Incheon, KR.

Based in Seoul, Jeon’s works are profoundly shaped by the natural environments and especially the Ocean. Through her painting practice, she deepens her engagement with the rhythms of nature, the sensory presence of water, and the Korean ancestral traditions of the free diving. Her more recent series evoke this act of measuring the Ocean's depth—both literal and metaphorical. Her compositions echo the movement of waterfalls, oceans, and shifting atmospheres but also emotional and intuitive mappings of interior landscapes. Her lively sceneries are made of fluid brushwork, intricate details, and a palette dominated by shades of blue—ranging from viridian to cobalt, Prussian blue, and indigo. Blue, for Jeon, is far more than a color: it is an emotional register, a state of being, a space of reflection. It expresses the invisible—the humidity in the air, the motion of wind, and the feeling of sinking into the deep sea.

Cecile Chong (b. 1964, Ecuador) Lives and works in New York, NY.

Cecile Chong is a New York–based multidisciplinary artist whose research-informed practice investigates how materials, objects, languages, and living forms carry histories of movement, ecological knowledge, and cultural exchange across generations and geographies. Born in Ecuador to Chinese parents and raised in Quito and Macau, her work draws on lived experiences across the Americas and Asia.
